SportsDay newspaper editor, Mr. Sam O’Femi Olusetire will this Friday join his siblings and other members of the family for the burial of their late mother, Mrs. Victoria Olawunmi (V.O.) Fasetire, who passed on to the great beyond last Wednesday, at the advanced age of 87.
The late Mrs. Fasetire, a retired caterer, teacher and former headmistress, who spent ten years of her early life in London with her husband, also late, died at a hospital in Ilesha, Osun State, after a very brief Illness.
She is survived by five children, the last of which is Olusetire (The Speed Tongue), a renowned journalist, whose experience of over 25 years in the profession has seen him work in the print, electronic and online media, with current radio programme presentations under the banner of popular broadcaster, Mr. Bimbo Adeola (The Top Striker) at 27 July Limited in Ikeja, Lagos.
Olusetire’s immediate older brother, Barrister Kayode Fasetire, was once the general-secretary of Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C) and is now a mentor of some emerging basketball talents, among who is his second son, Gbeminiyi Fasetire at Raptors Academy, Surulere, Lagos.
They will join their three older siblings in the burial rites for their late mother this week, starting with a Christian wake-keep on Thursday night and interment early Friday, both of which will hold at the family compound, near Atakunmosa High School, Oshu, Osun State.
Reception follows immediately after interment on Friday morning at the same venue, in the serene town that historically renowned for its commercial excellence in akara (fried bean cake) sales, in the largely rustic community lying between the vastly popular Ile-Ife and Ilesha.
