Delta Force, Abia Warriors Lock Horns as Okowa Pre-Season Tournament Enters Day 3

The Governor Okowa Pre-Season Tournament is growing high every day here in Asaba as teams are enjoying the tournament holding at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.

Home team Delta Force will play Abia Warriors today, Friday, September 13, 2019 by 10am.

The Okowa Boys, as Delta Force are known, won their opening game on Thursday against MFM by a lone goal.

Today’s game is going to be tough as Abia Warriors Coach Emmanuel Deutsch has promise to win the match against his former team, claiming that he has the Delta Force password.

“I know Delta Force home and away so this is one match my team will play and win am not underrating Delta Force but I have their password,” the Cameron-born coach informed Daily Sports.

The Cameroonian had summoned his players for a closed-door meeting after their dinner to have a heart to heart discussion with the team on how to fight gallantly to make it to the next stage of the tournament after the team lost their first game against the Pride of Rivers (Rivers United).

He told them: “Gentlemen, I was quite disappointed with the outing on Wednesday but is all in the past now. Our match against Delta Force is a ‘must win’ match and we can only achieve this by stepping up our game.

“I don’t want anyone to play under pressure but you all should strive to apply what has been taught in our day-to-day training in Umuahia since the club resumed and that only will give us the much-needed result we need on Friday. We can’t afford to have anything less than three points on Friday.”

The other game of the day will take place by 2pm between Niger Tornadoes and Rivers United.

Rivers United won their first game by a lone goal over Abia Warriors while this is Niger Tornadoes’ first game in the tournament.

Niger Tornadoes will want to prove another point in this game over Rivers United after they defeated them in the last Aiteo Cup semi-final.

Rivers United coach Stanley Eguma says Niger Tornadoes cannot be a threat to Rivers United. He said: “You see, we are preparing for the new season this is where you will see the output of our preparation so we are ready for any team in this tournament not Niger tornadoes alone but any team we meet in this tournament.”

The last game of Day 3 is Cynosure taking on Kwara United by 4pm. Both teams are playing their second game in the tournament.

Kwara United drew their first game with Remo Stars on Wednesday and Cynosure lost their game on Thursday to Lobi Stars by a lone goal.
