Rivers United, Niger Tornadoes, MFM, Abia Warriors, Delta Force, Lobi Stars, Bendel Insurance, Others Battle in Asaba

Ten teams are battling for honours in the Governor Okowa pre-season football tournament which kicked off on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The teams have been shared into two groups thus:

GROUP A: Rivers United, Niger Tornadoes, MFM, Abia Warriors and Delta Force.

Group B: Lobi Stars, Kwara United, Remo Stars, Cynosure and Bendel Insurance.

In the opening match in Group A, Rivers United defeated hard-fighting Abia Warriors by a lone goal scored by Bakari Bamba in the 79th minute of play to lead the group with three points. The Group B opener between Kwara United and Remo Stars ended goalless, with both teams displaying good football.

Action resumes today, Thursday, September 12, with three matches: Lobi Stars vs Cynosure, 10am; MFM vs Delta Force, 2pm; Bendel Insurance vs Remo Stars, 4pm.
