Amokachi moves to Finland, bags contract as club head coach

Finnish club Jalkapalloseura Hercules chairman Juho Edge has expressed the club’s satisfaction over the acquisition of former Nigeria legend Daniel Amokachi as head coach.

Edge said the employment of Amokachi will open a new chapter in the club’s history.

“The fact that we get our team’s head coach this great ex-player and coach is for us a big step forward. It opens up new perspectives on our business and shakes us out of putting aside formulas,” said the club chairman.

Amokachi signed a year’s deal with the Oulu-based club and will be assisted by the head coach from last season, Pekka Haaranen.

The Bull, as he was called during his playing days was trained as a coach, in the Netherlands and has managed the Super Eagles, Nigeria U23 team, Nasarawa United and FC IfeanyiUbah.

He has now joined Nigerian coaches like Chuks Akuneto (FC United of Manchester, England), Benedict Akwuegbu (AK Gratkon, Austria), Afusi Joseph Chukwuemeka (Sheikh Jamal Dhanmond of Bangladesh) who are in charge of teams abroad.
