U19 Volleyball World Championship: We Did Our Best, Says Coach Mohammed

By Daily Sports on August 25, 2019

The head coach of Nigeria U19 volleyball team, Sani Mohammed, said on Saturday that his boys gave their best at the ongoing 2019 edition of the FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U19 World Championship in Tunisia.

Russia pummeled Nigeria 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-17) in their third game of the championship and Nigeria sits third from one win against Korea.

Mohammed said the boys’ determination was high during the opening minutes between Russia but lost concentration in between the second and third set.

He said: “The boys’ determination was high from the beginning of the match, they lost concentration at the second set. We would have not attended this championship if not for the intervention of the president of the federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod.

“We are calling on corporate bodies and the intervention of the new sports minister to assist president in order to compliment on his efforts in rebranding volleyball in Nigeria. All we need now for these boys is exposure.”

“All over the world when it comes to playing against teams from America, South America and Asia; if you are not well exposed to high and tactical play you will find it difficult, but the boys were able to hold both the Americans and the Russians to a good scores, all the set we reached 20 points, a good result,” Mohammed added.
