Volleyball: We are determined to discover out hidden talents — Nimrod

The President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod, has said that the main focus of his administration is to discover hidden and more talents in volleyball.

Nimrod stated this at the closing ceremony of the Nimrod 300 Kids with Talents volleyball inter academy clinic held at the outdoor volleyball court of Moshood Abiola Stadium, Package B, Abuja.

Nimrod who sponsored the clinic expressed that the federation is more committed to the growth and development of the volleyball in Nigeria.

He revealed that the federation is ready to organise a National U13 and U15 Championships in a venue yet to be disclosed before the end of 2019.

He said the future is bright for volleyball in the country adding that the fast growing sport in Nigeria is ready to overtake football.

According to him, “I am so impress with kids performance my motto, my mission and vision is sustainable development and excellent and we are committed to more growth of the game.

“A lot of people have been supporting this program, right now as I talking to you the Kaduna North west event is kicking off next week yes, and it has been going on every year, every year we do it during holiday. When these children go back to school people will be shocked at the level to see the way they play; football is in serious trouble because football is ready to overtake”.

Talking about objective of the event, he said: “We have three objectives, one sport with passion that will develop their health and intelligent; number two is education; number three anti-drug. These are my objectives and these kids will be greater than me in future if they can key in to these three objectives.”

Also speaking, Sports Secretary Nigeria Customs Service, Samuel Onikeku, advocated for more age grade engagement at the grassroots level.

He said the country can only thrive in volleyball if and when sports is taken to the primary and junior secondary schools.

Onikeku advised the participants to combine education with sports in order to become excellent sports men and women.
