The management of Plateau United Football Club of Jos has extended the club’s resumption date by one week.
According to a statement by the Media Officer of the club, Albert Dakup, the extension became necessary in order to enable management complete negotiations with some newly invited players.
The statement noted that management is taking its time to get trusted and reliable players who will add value to the team unlike last season’s experience where some of the players who joined the team became a distraction.
The statement further revealed that the team objective this season “is to compete favorably with the best and pick a continental ticket at the end of the season.”
“The team will now resume for pre-season training on Monday, 5th August, 2019 together with the newly recruited players,” the statement said.
Daily Sports reports that Plateau United Football Club narrowly escaped relegation on the last day of the outgone abridged season of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) after an underwhelming performance, despite recruiting some of the best legs in the country.
