Nigeria Police Force beat Nigeria Immigration Service 3-1 (25-23, 28-26, 17-25, 28-26) at the ongoing 2019 Nigeria Volleyball Premier League taking place at the indoor sports hall of Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State.
Earlier, Nigeria Immigrations Service beat Famous Spikers 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-17) but could not withstand the firepower of Nigeria Police (a.k.a Super Force).
Nigeria Police took the first two sets 25-23, 28-26 due to the consistent errors of the Immigration team but took the third set against Super Force in grand style 25-17.
The fourth set saw both teams win points respectively till Nigeria Police stole the show winning by 28-26 again.
The coach of Nigeria Police Force volleyball team, Taiwo Oladipupo, said the result means they stand a chance of topping the league.
He attributed the win over Nigeria Immigration to tactical changes and discipline of his team.
He said: “The match against Nigeria Immigration was a tough one I must confess. During the first set, the fans thought we had lost but I told my players to capitalise on the mistakes of their opponent.
“Beating Immigrations means that Nigeria Police can come first in the first phase of the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League before we meet with other teams at the second phase in Abuja.”
