Nigerian Army and Sunshine Spikers of Ondo will today (Saturday, July 6, 2019) look horns on the final day of the first phase of the Nigerian Volleyball Division One League in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Nigerian Army and Sunshine Spikers have won eight consecutive matches at the ongoing league happening at the Indoor Sports Hall of the University of Ilorin.
Nigerian Army beat stubborn Niger Brass 3-1 (20-25, 25-12, 26-24, 25-21) while Sunshine Spikers defeated Dynamics of Anambra 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-21).
The head coach of Sunshine Spikers, Adeniyi Adekalu said his team will give Nigerian Army a good fight.
Adekalu said Sunshine Spikers will eventually return to the Premier League where they belong.
“The Nigeria Army cannot stop my boys when we meet tomorrow (Saturday) on the court. I have studied their game, we give it to them the way they bring the game.
“This team has been together since 2008 and have gone for championships in Mali (2009), Togo, Egypt and Tunisia. There is no special team at the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League because we played Customs in Port Harcourt last year and beat them 3-1. The Premier League should expect us after the conclusion of the division one,” he added.
