Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu, has given full support to Crime Busters FC, while charging the team to soar higher to clinch the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) ticket.
This was disclosed in a statement by Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ebere Amaraizu, on Monday in Enugu after Adamu hosted Crime Busters, who are champion of 2018 edition of Enugu State Federation Cup, at the weekend.
The team recorded an unbeaten run in the 2018 edition of the Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) league as well.
Amaraizu said that the police boss, who was visibly excited with the feat achieved by the team, demanded for immediate needs of the club to make it more formidable.
“I am very happy for the achievement by the club. Defeating Rangers that even beat clubs outside Nigeria shows your team prepared well.
“One of our focus for us in the Nigeria Police is to return to the glory days when police athletes were respected because they made Nigeria proud within and outside the country.
“Right now, a Commissioner is heading Police Sports Unit.
“Those in-charge of Crime Busters FC should assemble their demands and send them to me so that we will ensure support for the team to do better henceforth,” the spokesman quoted Adamu as saying.
Amaraizu said that the IGP assured of his readiness to give football development required attention in a bid to encourage its officers and men to make the country proud and use sports to effectively fight crime in communities.
Presenting the trophy to the police boss, coach of the team, Edmund Ndukamma, praised the sound technical quality of his players and technical crew.
Ndukamma urged the club’s management to continue with its undiluted support.
Amaraizu, who is also the team manager of the club, said that with the IGP’s pronouncement, every member of the team would be committed to winning more laurels this year and beyond.
Crime Busters FC defeated Rangers International FC 2 - 1 to win the 2018 Enugu State Challenge Cup, breaking a 38-year-old record held by Rangers.
