The Super Eagles Supporters Club (SESC) has congratulated the team for topping their Group E log en route this year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) slated for Egypt in June. It lauded “the collective and patriotic roles exhibited by the Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung” and Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Amaju Pinnick during the qualification series.
A released sent to Daily Sports on Tuesday and personally signed by SESC National Chairman, Prince Vincent Okumagba, noted that the Super Eagles vehemently overcame that initial setback occasioned by the 0-2 loss to South Africa in the first leg of the elimination series in Uyo in 2017.
The release also thumbed up the depth thinking and resolve by the technical crew, players and other officials for quick recovery and regaining the momentum which restored Nigeria’s dominance in African football scene
“It would be recalled that the Super Eagles qualified for the 2019 AFCON with a game to spare to spare despite the very first game loss thus making it a great testimony of what zeal, focus determination can transform a team and their official to,” SESC recalled.
The statement also appreciated the quality leadership provided by Sports Ministry and the NFF for giving splendid support and encouragement even when things were not looking upbeat.
“In short,” it said, “all of us in the Super Eagles Supporters Club as one united family are glad to note that the Sports Minister, the NFF President and his executive committee board also desire accolades for support given to the Super Eagles by worked as a team throughout the qualifiers and ensured they provided all that the Eagles needed to prosecute journey resoundingly to the logical conclusion as the boys in grand style reciprocated. It truly marked out these two bigwigs patriotic spirit towards achieving a national goal.”
According to the release, it was evident that Nigerian football fraternity was focused that the team must be in Egypt 2019.
The Supporters Club called for proper, and early complete preparations for them towards the upcoming AFCON with the hope that the trophy will once again return to Nigeria after the Stephen Keshi tutored team won it in South Africa.
Okumagba assured that the Super Eagles Supporters Club will always go to any part of the World to back up the team and see them excel and added that his Supporters Club is already making arrangements to be in Egypt for the upcoming AFCON football summit to cheer the Nigerian side to victory and it would be further recalled that Nigeria topped her Group E.
