Inter Milan Knocked Out of Europe by Eintracht Frankfurt

By Daily Sports on March 15, 2019

Inter Milan were knocked out of the Europa League at the San Siro as Luka Jovic’s first half goal took Eintracht Frankfurt into the quarter-finals.

The 21-year-old Serbia forward raced clear to lob the ball over Inter keeper Samir Handanovic.

Inter, who were without Mauro Icardi, introduced 16-year-old Sebastiano Esposito, as they chased the game.

However, Frankfurt held on to reach their first quarter-final of a major European competition since 1994-95.

Luciano Spalletti’s Inter side currently reside in fourth position in Serie A, with Frankfurt in fifth position in the Bundesliga.

Meanwhile Slavia Prague shocked Sevilla to win 4-3 after extra-time and 6-5 on aggregate in a thrilling contest.

Napoli lost 3-1 to RB Salzburg in Austria but held on to progress to the quarter-finals 4-3 on aggregate.

Munas Dabbur, Fredrik Gulbrandsen and Christoph Leitgeb scored for last term’s semi-finalists but Arkadiusz Milik’s early goal proved decisive for the Serie A club. (BBC)
