Bayelsa United players and officials were motivated on Friday evening at the team’s camping ground in Sagbama.
Confederation of African Football (CAF) Medical Committee member, Dr. Peter Singabele, did this via a friendly match between the players of Bayelsa United and a selected side of final players for the new season.
According him, the friendly match between the old players retained and the new ones have shown that the team is ready for the new season.
“From what I have seen today here in Sagbama both new and the old are good but we must reduce the number and that was my aim of organising this friendly match,” he said.
He informed that the Government of Governor Henry Seriake Dickson is ready to do anything for the team to come back to the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).
“Let me therefore appeal to us that all hands must be desk to support the team to come back and the players must also do their best to ensure we achieve the promotion this time around.
All Bayelsans are behind the team with prayer so this year we must get it and be there to the Premier League,” Singabele said.
At the end of the friendly match Team A old players defeated Team B new players by a lone goal score by Bobbe John.
The winning team got N50,000, plus a trophy, runner-up N20,000, the MVP Bobbe John got N5,000 plus a ball and the technical crew got N30,000.
Dr. Singabele promised to do more for the team whenever he visits the training and matches.
“The team is for all of us so we must come out to support Bayelsa United to return to the Premier League. I’m happy with what I saw but the team should come up with the final list,” Singabele said.
