Head coach of the Golden Eaglets, Emmanuel Amuneke, has emphatically declared that his unwavering belief in the capability of the national U-17 squad to get through each opponent at this year’s edition of the FIFA Cadet World Cup kicking off today, Saturday 17, in Chile.
It would be recalled that the giant West African country, Nigeria is in the same group (Group A) with the host nation, Chile, Croatia and USA.
Amuneke insists that all his lads’ players in camp are in high spirit and looking up squarely to the reason why they are in Chile. It is to face the expected tough football confrontation associated at the finals of any international meet. He said the Eaglets prepared for the worst studying their opponent for two months and have also worked on the tactical and technical side of the team. Therefore, we are ready.
“The team played good number of friendly games and on each game, the technical crew took incisive note and went ahead correcting them before the next. It has been an experience that we had during build up for the tournament. We will do our best and the players knew why they are here. We have got all the support from the leadership of the NFF God be with us we shall conquer,” he said.
According to the former African Player of the Year turned coach, the truth is that the Golden Eaglets are defending champions completely made it essential for the technical crew to opt for only excellent players for the football summit.
“Head or tail, my job is to finish out, train and raise a dreadful side my country men and women will be confident of at the championship. We are in the same group alongside Croatia, Chile, and USA should not be seen as extra-ordinary at all, fact is that for a country to win a world championship, her squad must battle real hard to win all her games. It is not hidden that we are no respecter of any team and so, we are ready for any opponent. We will be taken the matches as they come. The team is in high guts and we have prepared and are in peak well in advance to defend the U-17 championship we won in UAE in 2013,” he informed.
