An early goal from Mohamed Salah and a brace from Sadio Mane helped Liverpool beat Cardiff 4-1 to move to the top of the Premier League.

Salah scored for the third game in a row as he reacted quickest to put his side ahead from close range after 10 minutes at Anfield.

Mane eventually doubled the lead for Liverpool midway through the second half, before Callum Paterson scored to pull Cardiff back to within a goal's reach after 77 minutes.

However, Xherdan Shaqiri's first goal for the club gave them breathing space again, and Mane's 50th Premier League goal -- the seventh African player to reach that tally -- ensured Jurgen Klopp's side held on to claim the points.

Fulham's defensive woes went on at Craven Cottage in a 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth, stretching a run without a Premier League win to seven games.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah fouled Callum Wilson in the area, and stepped up himself to score from the spot inside 15 minutes.

David Brooks put Bournemouth two-up with 20 minutes remaining, and Fulham's Kevin McDonald received a second yellow card minutes later to cap off a miserable day for the hosts.

Wilson grabbed his second of the game after 85 minutes as Bournemouth moved to within a point of third-placed Arsenal.

Brighton won three games in the row for the first time in the Premier League as they beat Wolves 1-0 at the Amex Stadium.

Glenn Murray grabbed the game's only goal at the start of the second half after getting the final touch on a ball across goal from Bruno.

Murray became the second player in Brighton history to score 100 goals for the club with the goal.

Mathew Ryan pulled off a number of saves late on to deny Wolves, and Brighton held on to move level on points with Manchester United.

Roberto Pererya scored a sensational solo effort as Watford romped to a 3-0 win at home to Huddersfield.

The Argentine midfielder weaved his way through several opposing defenders before coolly slotting past Jonas Lossl to give the Hornets an early lead.

Gerard Deulofeu doubled Watford's lead soon after with a fine goal of his own as Watford scored two goals from their first two shots.

Isaac Success wrapped up the points late in the second half as Javi Gracia's side ensured they will end the weekend in sixth place.

In the day's other game, Newcastle are still without a win in the Premier League this season after drawing 0-0 at Southampton.

Saints came closest to breaking the deadlock after 41 minutes when Ryan Bertrand delivered a low cross into the box and it fell perfectly for Mario Lemina who saw his close-range shot hit the outside of the post.

The home side were close again on the stroke of halftime when Newcastle keeper Martin Dubravka made a superb save to keep out a header from Jack Stephens.

Charlie Austin finally had the ball in the back of the Newcastle net midway through the second half but his effort was ruled out for an earlier foul on Dubravka, as both sides failed to end their miserable starts to the season.

In the day's late game, Leicester left it late to draw 1-1 with ten-man West Ham.

Fabian Balbuena scored his first goal for West Ham to put them ahead, but.Leicester were handed a reprieve when Mark Noble was sent off for a studs-up challenge on Wilfred Ndidi.

Jamie Vardy was introduced at halftime and Leicester looked a lot livelier, having two penalty appeals turned down.

After pressuring West Ham for much of the match, Ndidi's deflected effort found the net in the last minute of normal time to snatch a point for Leicester. (ESPN)
