Nations Cup Qualifier: Super Eagles won’t disappoint against Libya — Omeruo

By Daily Sports on October 9, 2018

Nigeria will strive to pick six points against a ‘strong’ Libya side in the upcoming 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier doubleheader, assures defender Kenneth Omeruo.

Gernot Rohr’s men play the first of the two crucial encounters at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday, with the reverse fixture coming two days later in Libya’s newly adopted home, Algeria.

The Mediterranean Knights come into the games as the group leaders with four points – and a superior goal difference – after handing Seychelles a heavy defeat in the group opener before last month’s impressive goalless stalemate away in South Africa.

The Super Eagles, on the other side, secured a 3-0 away victory against Seychelles in Vitoria to put their campaign back on track having started woefully against Stuart Baxter’s men, losing 2-0 in Uyo last year.

And the Leganes defender is upbeat the three-time African champions can, twice, run the rule over their North African counterparts.

“We will be up against a strong Libyan side but we are the Super Eagles and we have a great squad,” Omeruo told team official Twitter.

“We will give our all to pick maximum six points from both games.

“I have confidence in the entire crew. We urge all our fans to get behind us and give us all the support. We will not disappoint you all.” (Goal.com)
