The new season of League 1 has started. The first rounds have already shown that it will be hard enough for PSG to defend its title, because the teams have special motivation for the match against the champion.
This summer the Parisians were quite modest at the transfer market, especially comparing to the previous year. Kylian Mbappe contract was fully redeemed from Monaco. Also before the closure the club purchased:
• Choupo-Moting;
• Bernat;
• Kerer.
However, the main acquiring for the Parisians is, of course, Gianluigi Buffon, who moved to the capital grand as a free agent. The changes also occurred on the coaching side, and now the team is headed by Thomas Tuchel. The German mentor should ensure not only victory in Ligue 1, but also success at the international arena.
This is what competitors can take advantage of; they became much stronger over the summer. In fact, only Monaco lost its leaders, but immediately signed their worthy fill-ins, who, however, still need time to adapt. Marseille and Lyon kept their main stars and will try to impose a real fight on PSG.
This is highly likely, given the fact that during the summer the Parisians suffered a lot of losses. Berchiche, Guedes, Krychowiak, Lo Celso are all players of other teams now. Thus, the latter two went on lease, so Tuchel will have an opportunity to return them. The goalkeeper Kevin Trapp left the team, too; he used to be the main one, but after Buffon joined the team and considering Areola the team no more needs him. They said, the German goalkeeper can even join Kano Pillars but he has chosen Frankfurt Eintracht.
Prospects of Rivals
However, even with the above mentioned losses, it can be said that the chances of PSG for the next gold medals are quite high. The team has a good bench and many players are able to strengthen the game in the course of the match. Mbappe became notably better, too, and he is already the leader of the team along with Neymar.
In general, the attacking line of Parisians can be envied by absolutely any team in the world. The main obstacle for them is an extremely difficult group in the Champions League, where they will have to do their best, as well as stubborn resistance of weaker clubs. It was obvious already at the initial stage, when the rivals chose the stonewall defense just to not give Tuchel's team the opportunity to attack.
The tournament is very long, we are only at its beginning, therefore the rivals will definitely have chances.
