Golden Eaglets skipper fails MRI age test in Niger, as team eyes victory against Burkina Faso

Golden Eaglets skipper and a right fullback failed the MRI age test in Niger Republic, while Group B foes Benin Republic have been disqualified from the Zonal U-17 AFCON Championship after 10 of their players failed.
It was further gathered that Burkina Faso had two of their players disqualified on age grounds, while hosts Niger had a player.
The Eaglets presently now have only fifteen outfield players and three goalkeepers eligible for the qualifiers.
The Eaglets would have to produce 10 other players for the MRI scan before they picked a final 20-man squad for the qualifiers.
Coach Manu Garba had insisted his team had passed the MRI in flying colours in Abuja after it was reported that as many of 15 of 40 players failed the test.
Benin Republic are already on their way back home after they were disqualified from the U17 AFCON competition as 10 of their players failed the age test .
Cote d’vioire are the other team in Group B following the disqualification of Benin.
Their opening campaign is set for monday afternoon by 4pm against Burkina Faso.
Meanwhile,  Mohammed Sanusi, General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), on Sunday expressed confidence in the ability of the Golden Eaglets to beat Burkina Faso today.
NAN reports that the U-17 West African Football Union (WAFU) B qualifiers gets underway in Niger Republic on Monday.
Sanusi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the Manu Garba-led boys were fit and ready to crush any opponent in West Africa.
He said they were well prepared to rekindle the glory of Nigeria in the U-17 category of global football.
“We should be prayerful because tactically our boys are good to go; therefore, what we need now is just God’s intervention,” the federation scribe said.
Nigeria’s U-17 team would contend with two opponents in their group because of the disqualification of Benin Republic.
Ten out of 20 Benin Republic players failed the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) test, leading to their disqualification.
However, Nigeria is left with Cote d’ Voire and Burkina Faso in the Group.
The Golden Eaglets will be slugging it out on Monday by 4 p .m. local time with Burkina Faso.
The WAFU qualifiers is for qualification to the U-17 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) to hold in Tanzania which is a qualifying finale for U-17 World Cup tagged Peru 2019.
