Vincent Enyeama terminates his contract with Lille by mutual consent

By Daily Sports on September 1, 2018

Former Nigeria captain Vincent Enyeama has rescinded his contract with French side Lille after serving the club for six years including few loan spells.

Enyeama had joined Lille from Hapoel Tel Aviv in summer 2011 on a free transfer. He spent one year before moving on a season-long loan to Maccabi Tel Aviv. Enyeama then returned to the Ligue 1 side where he remained active for four years but later on he was relegated to their B team in June 2017 until deciding to end his deal consensually with the club in summer 2018.

“After seven years, the adventure ends now and I can only thank the club and supporters for the amazing love,” Enyeama told BBC Sport.

The former Enyimba youth product won the 2016 French cup with Lille when they overcame Paris-Saint Germain in the final. He was also named Ligue 1 African Player of the Year for season 2013/2014, becoming the first goalkeeper to receive this accolade.

On international level, Enyeama has 101 caps with the Nigerian national team. He debuted for the Super Green Eagles on May 4, 2002. (www.kingfut.com)
