Nigeria: Universities League On Sallah Break

By Daily Sports on August 23, 2018

The Higher Institutions Football League (HIFL) is on two weeks break to allow players and officials observe the Sallah celebrations.

The organisers will also use the break to sort out outstanding issues, including protests and other disciplinary matters.

The consultant to the league and the CEO of Green White Green Communications, Gara Gombe said the break would give the players the opportunity to celebrate with their families.

The second legs of some of the matches were expected to come up today, but they have been postponed.

"The break will afford the organisers and the technical committee to look into some of the protests by the teams.

"For example, some schools are accusing others of using machineries and we have to look through them and come up with verdicts before going to the next round.

"All the matches scheduled for Wednesday in both the Coastal and Sahel zones will come up after the break."

Some of the matches will see OAU Giants hosting UI Pioneers, with first leg ending 3-3, while ABU Nobles will also be at home against Unilorin Warriors after the first leg between the two ended 1-0 in favour of the Ilorin side.

In Delta, Delsu Titans will welcome Uniport Sharks to their home ground with the hope of overturning a 3-2 first leg loss, while Unimaid Desert Warriors will be away to UAM Tillers with the game poised at 1-1 from the first leg. (The Guardian)
