Former national team midfielder and coach of the U-23 side, Fatai Amoo, has congratulated the French national “Le Blues” for emerging champions of the world for the second. It is recalled that France first won the FIFA World Cup in 1998 when they played host to the global biggest football fiesta and on Sunday, they handed 4-2 defeat to Super Eagles’ group opponents, Croatia to emerge champions of the world. Speaking to the Oracle Today Sports, Amoo said that the French deserved their victory even as he disclosed that they made maximum use of the abundant talents at their disposal. Continuing, the former 3SC coach hailed the role played by PSG youngster, Kylin Mbappe in Les Blues World Cup campaign saying it was wrong for Nigeria not to have included Chidiebere and Kelechi Nwakali in the Super Eagles squad to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. “Initially, we did not put France in the frame of those who will win the World Cup but as you can see, they justified their victory in the final against Croatia. They worked their way through to the final,” Amoo began. “They couldn’t have been at the final by a mere accident or luck but only by hard work and dedication to well thought-out plan. As a matter of fact, they deserve their victory because they played well. I say congratulations to the French national team “Les Blues”. “The French had the resource and they utilized it very well to get the result that they planned for. In every department of the game, you could see that they had the right players and that is what football is all about, having the right players who are dedicated in every department of the game. “It is not by accident that the French won the World Cup. I believe that they planned and worked for it. As a matter of fact it is not by accident that they became world champions but through dent of hard work and discipline,” Amoo declared. Continuing, Amoo said Nigeria could learn one or two things from the French national team. “I believe that if we are serious in this country, we could borrow a leaf from the French national team “Le Blues” as they are called. “First and foremost, there is the need for us to see the prominent role the PSG teenager, Kylin Mbappe played in the French victory on Sunday. “I wouldn’t know why the Nwakali brothers were not included in the team to Russia. They may be young but they are playing very good football. “Who said that those youngsters could not have performed the same role that Mbappe performed for France? I think it was wrong to have left them out of the squad because they are playing good football,” Amoo disclosed. •Photo shows Coach Fatai Amoo
