MANCHESTER UNITED are flying out for their tour of the US this evening but appear to be leaving Alexis Sanchez.
Sanchez had a rare summer off as Chile failed to qualify for the World Cup and as a result he returned for pre-season training last week with the other first-team players not playing in Russia.
It was expected that Sanchez would be on the flight to America but he was strangely absent from the players pictured arriving at Manchester Airport this evening.
And it comes after he was seen with friends at a restaurant in Cheshire earlier Sunday.
Manchester United are yet to announce their squad for the US Tour but Mourinho will have to work with several young players.
United had 11 players at the World Cup with Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Phil Jones, Ashley Young, Romelu Lukaku and Marouane Fellaini lasting until the final weekend.
And Mourinho admitted he will be without some of his big names for the start of the Premier League season.
"We cannot start the Premier League with our players that were in the World Cup, which is a shame for the most important club competition in Europe,” Mourinho told Russia Today.
"Three weeks [off], which I think is the minimum that their body and soul needs, and which is the minimum for the them to return and think about football again.
“To bring them back before that would be, ‘OK I have you for the first match of the season but maybe I don’t have you in three of four months.’
“I think three weeks is the minimum they need, which means that they’re going to be back in the week when the Premier League starts, which means they’re not ready to start the Premier League, which is I think difficult to understand, where we could have one more week to prepare everybody.”
United will kick off the new season with a home game against Leicester City.
