Lionel Messi gives green light for Barcelona star to join West Ham — Spanish press

By Daily Sports on June 8, 2018

Lionel Messi has reportedly given his blessing for Rafinha to leave Barcelona.

The Brazilian has struggled for regular game time at the Nou Camp in recent seasons and he spent last year on loan at Serie A giants Inter Milan.

Barca are keen to bring in fresh faces this summer as they look to bounce back from a disappointing Champions League campaign.

The La Liga giants may have to sell players in order to fund new signings and a number of stars have been linked with exits, including Ousmane Dembele and Andre Gomes.

Reports in Spain have suggested that Rafinha could also be on the way out, with West Ham touted as a potential destination.

And according to Don Balon, a Spanish outlet famous for its outlandish transfer claims, Messi has given the green light for the transfer to go ahead.

The Hammers are keen to add quality to their squad under new boss Manuel Pellegrini.

They’ve already snapped up Ryan Fredericks from Fulham and are close to finalising a £33m move for Lazio star Felipe Anderson.

West Ham are looking to bounce back from a disappointing season that saw them narrowly escape relegation.

Don Balon claim that they’re willing to pay €40m (£35m) to bring Rafinha to the London Stadium.
