After making 180 appearances in a six-year spell at the Emirates, Santi Cazorla has confirmed he will leave Arsenal this summer.
Cazorla has been sidelined since October 2016 after suffering a serious Achilles injury.
While he had returned to training towards the end of the season, Cazorla was not deemed to be fit enough to feature in the final fixtures of the campaign.
And Cazorla has given a heartfelt message to fans from Spain.
“Hello to the Arsenal fans everywhere, I’m very sad to be leaving after so many great times,” he said.
“I have loved my time with the club and I will always remember the special moments we have had together.
“The FA Cup win in 2014 is something we will never forget. It was a great moment for me and the club.
“I want to say thank you very much because you always give me a special support.
“I am very proud to be part of this club’s history and I want to wish you all the best. And thank you very much again.”
Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis admitted Cazorla was one of his favourite players to watch as he thanked the Spaniard for his contribution to the club.
“Santi is always one of my favourite players to watch,” he said.
“His natural ability with both feet, his speed of thought and movement were central to our best performances in recent years.
“He plays with a joy and freedom which is very rare.
“We wish him well for the future and thank him for his important contribution to our club.” (Express.co.uk)
