Deadly Belgian-born Nigerian striker on target vs Feyenoord

By Emmanuel Chinaza on April 16, 2018

Belgian-born Nigerian striker, Cyriel Dessers was on target for Utrecht in a 3-1 away defeat to Feyenoord in their Eredivisie clash at De Kuip Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The 23-year-old who has reiterated his ambitions of turning out for the Super Eagles if opportunity calls drew his team level with a sizzling left-footed shot from very close range in the 31st minute after picking a pass from teammate Zakaria Labyad.

Though the goal cancelled out Nicolai Jorgensen’s seventh minute opener, a goal apiece from former English Premier League star, Robin Van Persie onthe cusp of half time and another Sam Larsson 20 minutes from time saw the hosts emerge winners.

The goal continued the attacker’s hot streak of form, having hit nine goals from just 12 starts (26 outings overall) while laying on another three efforts.

The effort yet puts him within a goal of reaching double league figures for the second consecutive season, having found the back of the net 22 times with NAC Breda in the Eerste Divisie last season.

Utrecht are placed fifth on the Eredivisie standings, hovering just below Feyenoord in fourth, with 49 points from their 31 games so far.
