BREAKING NEWS: Man City are Premier League champions! •How United crumbled at home to lowly West Brom to hand City the title

By Daily Sports on April 15, 2018

Manchester City have emerged champions of the 2017/2018 English Premier League with five matches still to end the season.

They became impossible to catch when the unexpected happened minutes ago this Sunday evening, with bottom club West Brom beating hosts Manchester United by an unreplied goal at Old Trafford.

The unthinkable happened in the 73rd minute when manager-less West Brom, playing under a caretaker coach for the fourth time this season, broke the deadlock.

It started with a Chris Brunt corner from the right flank, which in-form striker Jay Rodriguez headed into the net, after Nemanja Matic failed to clear in the box.

All efforts by Jose Mourinho’s men to equalise hit a brickwall.

The shock result left second-place United 16 points behind Pep Guardiola’s side, thus handing the City Manager – who was away playing golf with his son – his first English Premiership title.
