HEAVYWEIGHT SHOWDOWN: Joshua vows to ‘go to war’ with Deontay Wilder, NOT BOX

By Daily Sports on April 15, 2018

IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (21-0, 20 KOs) is not fully satisfied with the performance in last outing, which saw him win a twelve round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Joseph Parker in a high stakes unification bout.

It was the first contest where Joshua was forced to go the twelve round distance, before a huge crowd at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

Instead of the expected shootout, it was more of a tactical boxing match – with many of the 78,000 fans in attendance feeling disappointed with the way the contest played out.

Joshua would have preferred to knock Parker out in a dramatic fight.

Now there are ongoing talks for a full division unification with WBC world champion Deontay Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs), who is viewed as one of the most exciting fighters to watch in the sport.

When they collide in the ring, Joshua is not planning to box him in the same manner as he did Parker.

Instead, Joshua is going to make it an exciting showdown in the ring and plans for fireworks from start to finish.

“I’m going to go back to fighting with my heart because even I find it boring boxing. I want to just go back to being a bit more gutter and going to war. I think that’s entertaining but it’s difficult because you don’t want to lose your belt but at the same time you want to entertain,” Joshua said, according to Daily Mail.
