By Nelson Dafe on March 28, 2018

Spain striker Diego Costa has told Argentina fans to appreciate Messi after getting a taste of life without him.

Argentina were humiliated 6-1 away to Spain at the Wandra Metropolitano stadium,Madrid on Tuesday night with Isco netting a hattrick for Spain.

Lionel Messi missed the friendly match due to injury and Argentina simply wilted without him.

In Argentina, they love to criticize Messi a lot,” Costa told Fox Sports Argentina.

“Today, they have seen what they are without Messi. Argentina have to take care of Leo; they have to be grateful.

“If Messi wasn’t there for them, how would they get by?

Messi was so embarrassed for his team mates during the match against Spain and walked out of his seat in the late minutes as Argentina imploded against the rampaging Europeans.

Argentina's coach Jorge Sampaoli took responsibilty for the result. "I feel bad for the boys. I take responsibility. In the second half we didn't have the balance or solidity and we were all at sea," he said.
