England and Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling has called on fans to give love to the England national team going to the world cup in Russia.
England play a warm up game against Italy on Tuesday and beat Netherlands last Friday 1-0 in their last friendly.
Sterling feels that theres a lot of negativity gpoing on about the England team. "I would love to hear some positive notes coming in, just to let the boys know everyone is behind them," Sterling told BBB Radio 5 Live.
England topped their world cup qualifying group, winning 8 out of 10 games, but their fans are worried about the quality of their performances recently. The history of thye country not winning any senior international trophy of note since 1966 doesn't do anything to help the negative atmosphere.
Gareth Southgate-coached England face Panama,Tunisia and Belgium ion their World Cup group.
Sterling ,23, said: "If you want your country to do well ,as everyone says, bring a positive light to it.
"Make the boys go to the World Cup thinking that everyone is behind them and, trust me I think you would definitely see a better England.
"I think if we get behind those players, give them love, you wouldn't know what that woold help them, how much tht would boost their confidence.
"I think at times we are judged a little bit too early. I think it probably doesn't work in our favor."
