Igali Reflects on ‘Better’ 3rd Gov. Dickson Wrestling Classics

By Anthony Obaseki on July 12, 2019

President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), Hon. Daniel Igali, has expressed satisfaction with the just-concluded 3rd Governor Dickson National Classics, stating that it is ‘one of the better tournaments hosted in Nigeria’.

It would be recalled that the extended 10-day tournament came to an end on Tuesday with hosts, Bayelsa emerging overall champions with 198 points ahead of Delta (141pts) and Ondo (111pts).

In his general assessment of the competition, the Olympic and world champion expressed delight over the performance of the athletes and conduct of the officials.

“I thought the tournament went very well,” the NWF boss said. “From an organisational point of view, we went very smoothly; despite slight hitches of starting 30 minutes behind schedule, everything went well.

“Referees were very orderly, considerate and professional, while athletes had a very fantastic tournament. There was a very high level of technical abilities from the athletes, especially because it also doubles as our selection for the African Games. I felt this is one of the better tournaments we’ve hosted in Nigeria,” he declared.
