The 22-year-old has seen his stock rise in the last three months, the Confederation of African Football named him in the ceremonial Team of the Year after helping Al Ahly reach the final of the Champions League.

''With grateful heart and total respect to the family of @NGSuperEagles and all #Nigerians, this invitation to our National Team is a dream come true 🙌,'' Ajayi tweeted.

''I will make you all proud by the grace of God. Thank You #CoachRorh. Thank you @AlAhly. #AjayiJnr #Russia2018''.

This season, Ajayi has been directly involved in 17 goals (8 goals, 9 assists) in 25 matches in all competitions for Al Ahly.
