NPFL releases 2017/18 draws; Plateau United begin title defence Jan. 14 against Nasarawa

The draw for the 2017/18 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) was conducted in Kano on Sunday morning. The season kicks off on January 14, 2018.

Title holders Plateau United will open their defence with a short trip to Lafia to square up against Nasarawa United, which finished fifth last season. Last season’s runners up and CAF Champions League campaigners MFM FC of Lagos will be away to Abia Warriors. The Umuahia-based side were 12th last term.

Seven-time Nigerian champions and two-time CAF Champions League winners Enyimba, who will play in the CAF Confederation Cup next year having ended last season in third place on the domestic scene, will be away to Lobi Stars.

For Akwa United, reigning Federation Cup champions and fourth in the league last season, the new year begin with a home fixture against Enugu Rangers.
