Bayern Munich: Jupp Heynckes records first victory

By Daily Sports on October 15, 2017

Bayern Munich thrashed Freiburg in manager Jupp Heynckes' first game back in charge of the reigning champions.

Bayern sacked Carlo Ancelotti last month, four months after he guided them to the Bundesliga title, with Heynckes returning for his fourth spell as boss.

An own goal from Julian Schuster put Bayern in front early on, before Kingsley Coman headed in a second goal.

The hosts scored three second-half goals through Thiago Alcantara, Robert Lewandowski and Joshua Kimmich.

The result leaves Bayern second, two points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund, whose unbeaten start to the season was ended by RB Leipzig.

German Heynckes, 72, has won the Bundesliga three times and the Champions League once during his previous three spells in charge of Bayern.

In 2013, he retired after leading the club to a Champions League, league and domestic cup treble, but he returned after Ancelotti's dismissal and will be the club's boss until the end of the season.
