Belgium-based midfielder Uche Agbo has said he will back Nigeria to beat Cameroon and qualify for next year’s World Cup in Russia.
Agbo is one of six players put on standby by the Eagles for the World Cup qualifiers against the African champions on September 1 in Uyo and September 4 in Yaounde.
“I have seen the squad list for the matches against Cameroon and the players invited are good players. I am not bothered I was placed on standby, I only ask God that we beat Cameroon and qualify for World Cup,” he told SCORENigeria
“It should now be a collective prayer for the team as a Nigerian for the team to qualify to the World Cup.”
He may now not have the chance to come face-to-face with his Cameroonian teammate at Standard Liege and close pal Collins Fai.
The former Granada CF ace has settled in quickly at his new Belgian club.
“I have settled down and I have played all the four games so far for club in the league,” he reported.
“I am happy that I am doing my best and the coach has recognised my contribution as a new player.”
