Dele Ajiboye vows to be CHAN Eagles No 1 and then Super Eagles

By Daily Sports on July 16, 2017

Former Nigeria U17 and Olympic goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye has said he will give everything to be the CHAN Eagles No 1 on his way to being top-choice for the Super Eagles.

The shot stopper of NPFL leaders Plateau United, a world champion at U17 level, faces a tough fight for the No 1 shirt of the home-based Super Eagles as Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Okiemute Odah and Theophilus Afelokhai have also been called up for next month’s CHAN playoffs against either Togo or Benin.

“I am happy with my invitation to the CHAN Eagles. I know it’s not going to be an easy fight as all the goalkeepers invited are very good, but I will put in my best as ever to make it,” he told SCORENigeria

The Super Eagles No 1 shirt is also open for grabs following the recent setback for Carl Ikeme and Ajiboye said he hopes to use his displays with the CHAN Eagles to stake a claim in the full international team.

“My major target is to be in the main Super Eagles and so doing well with the CHAN Eagles will help me achieve that,” he further told SCORENigeria

‘Aji-boy’, as he is affectionately nicknamed by his fans, has kept nine clean sheets as Plateau United stay on top of the NPFL standings. (SCORENigeria)
