The National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers (NANPF), also known as the Nigeria Players Union, says it will organise the First Stephen Keshi Memorial Lecture at the Conference Hall of the Petrol Station Workers Union along Benin-Auchi Road on the 7th of June 2017.

Late Stephen Keshi former Super Eagles Player and Coach, you will recall died in Benin on the 7th of June 2016. Keshi left legacies in Nigeria and Africa Football with unmatched exploits both as a player and Coach. As a player he captained the senior team, the Nigeria Super Eagles for more than a decade with an outstanding record of being one of the only two persons that has won the Africa Nations Cup, both as a player and Coach

A statement issued on Saturday in Lagos by the General Secretary of the Union, Comrade Austin Popo, indicated that the lecture, apart from being a remembrance event, “will serve as a most veritable platform in highlighting and showcasing the unconfined contributions of Stephen Keshi to the overall development of Africa Football as well as promote   his ideals and passions for the discovery and development of young talented footballers”

The Guest Speaker for the lecture is Mr. Mike Idoko, an astute football administrator, and Chairman of Lobi Stars Football Club. The Memorial Lecture is also part of activities engaged by the union to sustain the momentum of actualising the vision of immortalising the late Stephen Keshi with projects such as the Stephen Keshi Football and Vocational Training Centre in Obazuwa Edo State and the proposed Stephen Keshi National Youth Football Tournament endorsed by the Nigeria Football Federation.
