Rangers General Manager, Ozor Paul Chibuzor, has said the club will aim to retain the league title in the coming Nigeria league season.
Rangers were crowned champions last month after a 32-year wait and Chibuzor said they are working on remaining top of the league table for a second straight season.
“Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi must take the credit for ending many years without a trophy for Rangers. Rangers are getting it right now because of the good Governor we have,” Chibuzor said.
“And the only way to can repay him is to win the league back-to-back.
“If we did what we did last season by being on top at the right time, there is nothing stopping us from being champions again with our great Governor and great people of Enugu State behind us.”
Rangers will fly Nigeria’s flag in next year’s CAF Champions League along with Rivers United and Chibuzor assured ‘The Flying Antelope’ will be worthy representatives.
“It’s a big task ahead of us and that is why we have been up and doing. We have to be well prepared,” he said.
“The true champions of Nigeria will feature in the Champions League. You will see us flying high in this competition.
“We will retain the majority of the squad from last season with a couple of adjustments. We will not be starting from the scratch. You could see, for instance, that we still need some finishers upfront.”
The Rangers chieftain also disclosed the club have set up a marketing department to shop for corporate partners and that way earn additional revenue to compliment government funding.
