Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed the commitment of people and government of the state to support the Victor Ezeji testimonial match scheduled to hold at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt, on December 10.

The governor who spoke through the state‘s Commissioner for Sports, Boma Iyaye, said the Main Organizing Committee for the Victor Ezeji testimonial would receive government’s support in its bid to host a befitting event for the player.

The Governor acknowledged Ezeji‘s service to the defunct Rivers State club sides, Sharks FC and Dolphins FC and also commended his choice of Port Harcourt as the city to host his testimonial.

“The government would support Victor; the government would support the Main Organising Committee to ensure that you have a hitch free testimonial,” he restated.

“For Ezeji to decide that his testimonial will hold in Port Harcourt shows the love and respect he has for our city. He played for Sharks, won laurels, played for Dolphins and won laurels also. We thus consider you a part and parcel of Rivers Utd and a legend of Rivers Utd. Ezeji though from Abia State grew up in Port Harcourt and can be considered a Port Harcourt boy. He started his playing career in the city, got married here and still lives in Port Harcourt at the moment. We are proud of him to say the very least,” the Commissioner added.

Following his official retirement from the round leather game, Ezeji has decided to also bid an official farewell to his fans with one last match.
