Akwa United chairman Paul Bassey has said a decision on whether to hire Gbenga Ogunbote or Abdu Maikaba for the new season has yet to be taken.
Both seasoned coaches have been interviewed to replace sacked Maurice Cooreman.
Strong indications suggest Maikaba has already bagged the job on a two-year deal, but Bassey said a decision has yet to be taken.
“Akwa United have two fishes in mind – coach Ogunbote and coach Maikaba – but nothing is tangible yet,” maintained Bassey.
Veteran sports journalist Bassey is in Egypt on CAF duty for tomorrow’s CAF Champions League final return leg between hosts Zamalek and Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa.
