Several permutations confront third-placed FC IfeanyiUbah as they battle hosts MFM FC in a decisive league match with several of their top stars back from injuries and suspensions.
‘The Anambra Warriors’ will be aiming to clinch a first-ever continental ticket at the Agege Stadium in Lagos in the final round of fixtures in the 2015/16 season of the NPFL.
Club chairman Chuma Ubah said the team playing international football next year will attract more investment to the Nnewi club.
“Getting a continental ticket this season will be great for us as a club and also for our proprietor Dr Ifeanyi Ubah because he is a man of excellence and one who loves good results,” he said.
“We have worked hard together as a team all season long and getting this result will encourage him to invest more into the team.”
Striker Mohamed Suleiman is available for selection after returning from injury.
The former Lobi Stars striker was a second-half substitute during last Wednesday’s Federation Cup semifinal win against Crown FC.
Still on injury updates, Ivorian striker Seka Pascal is also available for selection after he played 70 minutes in the Federation Cup on Wednesday. He missed the last NPFL match against Enyimba due to a thigh injury.
Tamen Medrano and Kojo Baah are also available for selection for Sunday’s match after serving one-match bans against Enyimba due to accumulated yellow cards.
FC IfeanyiUbah permutations going into the last NPFL match against MFM are:
1. A win for FC IfeanyiUbah guarantees at least a CAF Confederation Cup ticket for next season. However, if IfeanyiUbah won and Rivers United lost or drew at Akwa United, then the Anambra Warriors will play in the CAF Champions League.
2. A draw against MFM will earn IfeanyiUbah a CAF Champions League spot if Rivers United lost by 4 goals and Wikki lost.
3. However, a draw against MFM will earn IfeanyiUbah a CAF Confederation ticket if Rivers won against Akwa and Wikki fail to win their last match. However, if Wikki won and IfeanyiUbah drew with MFM then ‘The Anambra Warriors’ will lose out completely on a continental ticket.
4. A defeat to MFM might still be enough for FC IfeanyiUbah, if Wikki Tourists and Sunshine Stars failed to win their respective matches. (mtnfootball.com)
