Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is likely to depart Besiktas this summer after just one season in Turkey, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Ndidi joined the Turkish side from Leicester City in an €8m deal last summer, but speculation about his future began to emerge during the January transfer window when he was reportedly considering a return to England.
Following an underwhelming campaign, Besiktas parted ways with coach Sergen Yalçın and have since appointed Vincenzo Italiano as his replacement.
Speculation surrounding Ndidi’s future has intensified, with reports suggesting he does not feature in the new manager’s tactical plans and that the club is willing to move him on while pursuing a new defensive midfielder in the summer transfer window.
According to Ajanshaber, an exit is now increasingly likely, with a move to the Saudi Pro League considered the most probable destination for the Nigerian midfielder.
Although the 29-year-old remains under contract for another two years, there has been no concrete interest from European clubs.
The former Leicester City player was previously linked with Manchester United, but a move to Old Trafford has failed to materialise and now appears unlikely, particularly following the club’s recent midfield recruitment and interest in other targets.
Amid the uncertainty, Besiktas are reportedly prepared to sell the Super Eagles midfielder for a fee in excess of €10m.
According to a report by Kartal Record, the Turkish club are willing to part ways with Ndidi and hope to make a profit on the €8m they paid Leicester City for his services last summer.
Ndidi made a significant contribution during his debut season in Turkey, but Besiktas’ disappointing campaign and subsequent managerial change have cast doubt over his long-term future at the club.
With the summer transfer window approaching, Saudi Arabian clubs are reportedly monitoring the situation closely as they look to strengthen their squads with experienced international players.
