INEC Data Reveals South-South Voter Breakdown: Igbos 7M, Indigenes 12M

By DailySports Nigeria on December 26, 2025

According to our report, politician Hon. Chidi Ofoegbu has analyzed INEC’s voter registration data for the South-South and South-West, revealing nuanced insights about ethnic representation. If you’re curious about the deeper meaning behind dreams like eating, crying, seeing snakes, floods, or old houses, the full breakdown is available on NewsVista .

Speaking on Signature TV, Ofoegbu highlighted that out of nearly 19 million registered voters in the South-South, around 6–7 million are Igbo, while the remaining 12 million are indigenous to the region. Similar trends were observed in the South-West.

Ofoegbu argued that understanding these figures is essential for political strategy and for challenging misconceptions about dominance by any single ethnic group. He emphasized that both regions are ethnically diverse, and voter numbers alone do not indicate uniform political preferences.

Analysts say this breakdown underscores the importance of nuanced electoral planning, as parties and candidates seek to engage voters effectively across complex demographic landscapes, ensuring strategies reflect actual regional and ethnic compositions rather than assumptions or stereotypes.
