Nigeria Premier Football League champions, Remo Stars, have announced the signing of three new players ahead of the 2025/26 season, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The three new players are midfielders Chaka Coulibaly and Jerome Bonou as well as striker Adama Goita, who all signed two-year deals.
“The Malian swoop. We are pleased to announce the signing of midfielder Chaka Coulibaly and striker Adama Goita. Both have put pen to paper on a two-year deal,” the club announced on Wednesday.
Coulibaly joined the club from the Bamako side, Sportive Binga FC, while Goita last played for one of the biggest clubs in Mali, Djoliba AC.
Earlier, Remo Stars also welcomed Bobnou from the Benin Republic.
“The club can confirm the signing of Jerome Bonou on a two-year deal. The defensive midfielder joins in from Association Omnisports Les Requins de l’Atlantique.”
Remo Stars will compete in the CAF Champions League this season, and they have been handed a tricky route to the group stages.
The first round of their CAF Champions League preliminary match is against Comoros side, US Zilimadjou, which will be played between September 19 and 21.
The winner of the clash will face South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns in the final round.
Before then, they will kick off their title defence in the NPFL with a date against last season’s runner-up, Rivers United in Abeokuta on Friday.
The NPFL Champions have adopted the MKO Abiola Sports Arena as their temporary home ground, pending the completion of renovation works at their stadium in Ikenne.
Remo Stars won the 2024/25 NPFL title with 71 points, beating Rivers United to the crown by seven points and also ending their agonising wait for their first-ever title, having gone close in the previous two seasons.
