Lookman rejects Arsenal, insists on Inter move

By Daily Sports Nigeria on August 11, 2025

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman is reportedly uninterested in a transfer to Premier League side Arsenal, but is adamant on remaining in the Italian top-flight as he pushes for a move to Inter Milan, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The 27-year-old Nigerian international, who is currently at loggerheads with his current club Atalanta over their refusal to sanction his move to the Nerazzurri, has failed to report for La Dea’s pre-season training camp as the club continues preparations for the new campaign.

The 2024 UEFA Europa League champions have turned down two bids from Inter Milan for Lookman’s services, as they continue to hold out for the €50m, which they believe is his full transfer value, a move which has infuriated the Nigerian.

As Atalanta looks to cash in on Lookman for as much money as possible, the Bergamo-based outfit has been awaiting offers outside of Italy. However, Lookman himself has not indicated that he is entertaining interest from other clubs, at least for now.

According to Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, “Lookman is absolutely set on joining Inter. The Nerazzurri have a full agreement with the Nigerian international. They have done so for some time.”

The outlet added, “Inter are not pursuing any other attacking targets. This is partly to keep Lookman confident and happy, and ensure that other suitors don’t turn his head. Inter coach Cristian Chivu has made Lookman a priority target. He is ready to change the team’s formation to suit the former Leicester City forward.”

Meanwhile, Atalanta are preparing to take legal action against Lookman after the Nigerian left Italy without permission and refused to attend training sessions in protest over the club’s rejection of Inter Milan’s transfer bid.

The 27-year-old winger has gone on an unauthorised vacation following Atalanta’s decision to turn down Inter’s latest offer, with the club’s hierarchy considering his behaviour completely unacceptable.

According to Football Italia, the Percassi family have prepared legal action that could result in a costly fine for Lookman, who has also refused to communicate with the club since departing Italy.
