Nigeria forward Ademola Lookman has reached an agreement to join Inter Milan as the Serie A giants intensify efforts to secure his signature from Atalanta with a €40m bid, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Inter have moved decisively in their pursuit of the Super Eagles star and are prepared to meet Atalanta with a firm proposal.
“Inter are serious about Lookman, agreement with the player, €40m ready for Atalanta,” Di Marzio reported.
The former RB Leipzig and Leicester City winger is currently under contract at Atalanta until 2027, but talks between the clubs have begun, with Inter hoping that a previously made promise by Atalanta to allow Lookman leave this summer will be respected.
Despite Atalanta’s valuation of €50m, Inter’s offer remains fixed at €40m, and club officials have no intention of increasing their bid.
Their willingness to proceed irrespective of outgoing transfers underlines the priority status Lookman holds in their summer plans.
“Atalanta are asking for at least €50m, but Inter do not intend to go beyond their proposal,” Di Marzio added.
“The player has already given his approval to the transfer, which is why the Champions League runners-up are keen to avoid prolonged negotiations. If talks drag on, Inter may decide to move on to other targets, including Nico Gonzalez.”
Lookman enjoyed a standout 2024–25 campaign, scoring 15 goals and playing a decisive role in Atalanta’s UEFA Europa League triumph. His performances have made him a top target for new Inter manager Christian Chivu, who sees the Nigerian as a key component of his revamped attacking structure.
Chivu is reportedly keen on Lookman’s versatility, with the 27-year-old capable of playing wide on either flank or centrally as a second striker. The Inter boss believes his skillset will offer tactical flexibility alongside Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thuram in the new season.
Although Napoli and Arsenal have shown interest in the player, Inter are currently in pole position to secure the transfer. Lookman is reportedly eager to join the Nerazzurri and has already given the green light for the move.
