Ex-Enyimba keeper, Idah Peterside, says the National U-23 team can win Germany when they clash in the semi-final of the on-going Rio Olympic Games on Wednesday.
Peterside, also a former keeper of Israeli club, Macabi Hazelia, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on phone from Johannesburg, South Africa, on Monday that the match would be tough.
“ The semi-final match against Germany will be tough. We can win the match. We all have to pray for them and wish them well,” he said.
Peterside said that the presence of striker Etebo Oghenekaro in the match would boost Nigeria`s chances because the player had potentials to score goals.
“ Etebo`s presence will be a great boost to the team. I hope he is okay and fit for that match,” he said.
According to him, the Dream team has recorded great results in the men`s football event of the Olympic games.
“ The players have recorded great results from their matches so far. All that matters now is the Gold.
“ I am optimistic that this result is achievable and our boys can do it. Let us pray and scale the German hurdle and that Gold will be in sight,” he said.
Peterside also commended the team`s technical crew led by coach Sampson Siasia for successfully guiding them to the semi-final of the Olympics.
“ Nigerians are proud of this team and I believe that they will do the nation proud,” the ex-keeper stated.
