Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina remains positive about the Tricky Trees’ chances of making the top five in the English Premier League and playing in the UEFA Champions League next season, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Aina and his teammates played out a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday night, leaving them two points below Chelsea and Newcastle in the race for the Champions League spots.
Eberechi Eze’s penalty put the Eagles up, but Forest showed spirit, and Murillo’s clever finish earned what could prove to be a vital point.
Forest have picked up just one win in their last five Premier League games, and their hopes of Champions League football next season have hit a stumbling block. They have lost three of those games as well.
After Monday’s draw, Aina believes they are far from out.
“It just happens. This is football, sometimes it just doesn’t go your way,” said the defender on Monday.
“Unfortunately for us, it hasn’t gone our way recently, but the hard work continues, and we try to get three points every game, but we couldn’t get that (against Palace). Like you said, it’s all positive.
