Aston Villa have been given the green light to pursue Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho, as injury expert Dr. Rajpal Brar allays concerns the Premier League side had over the striker’s fitness, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and sports scientist, told Villa News that Iheanacho’s injury history should not raise any red flags for potential suitors, despite his limited playing time recently.
“He’s not had any injuries that would be red flags for any club looking to sign him, but he has not played too many minutes,” Dr Brar explained.
“The lack of game time can certainly be a worry so the key is he needs to be brought in gradually.”
The 27-year-old forward, who currently plies his trade in the Championship, is reportedly in talks with Villa’s sporting director Monchi over a potential summer move.
Brar emphasized that Iheanacho’s previous Premier League experience would be beneficial for a smooth transition saying, “He is moving to the Premier League from the Championship but he’s played there before so will understand the demands of the Premier League.”
Iheanacho boasts an impressive Premier League record, having made 196 appearances in the top flight, scoring 42 goals and providing 25 assists.
