Super Falcons and Bay FC forward, Asisat Oshoala, says she does photography for fun after her American club shared some images she took at an event during their game on Sunday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
On Monday, the club shared seven images taken by the footballer, and another one where she was handling the camera during their African World Heritage Day and Cinco de Mayo – an event to spotlight the various cultures that have helped shape their host city California as well as their players.
The images shared include an action picture taken from the stands during their 2-1 defeat against Chicago Red Stars, poses of her teammates in the dressing room, the team’s match-day picture and some fans who were on the pitch for the fan fest.
“Our African World Heritage Day match shot by Asisat Oshoala,” the club posted via X.
The player then reposted the pictures saying, “One of the things I love to do for fun,” with hashtags #LoveTheCamera and #ShotsByZee.
Oshoala’s involvement in the celebration was down to her non-inclusion in the match-day squad and she made her presence count off the field.
Perhaps spurred by the images Oshoala took, Nigeria photojournalist, Sulaimon Adebayo, popularly known as Pooja, joked that the footballer had been accredited by FIFA to cover Nigeria’s upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic in June.
Oshoala replied with the Yoruba word, “oluya”, a subtle jibe used mostly for non-professional photographers.
