West African champ Abubakar set for European debut

By Daily Sports Nigeria on April 24, 2024

Unbeaten West African Cruiserweight champion Farouq Abubakar (11-0-0-11KOs) will make his European debut against unbeaten German Dennis Bege (7-0-0-1KOs) in an international cruiserweight clash on May 25 at Foerdegymnasium in Flensburg, Germany, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The highly anticipated bout marks Abubakar’s first appearance outside Nigeria and he will be taking his talents to Germany.

With an impressive record of 11 wins, all by knockouts, Abubakar brings a formidable presence to the ring and he will be aiming to extend his undefeated streak and solidify his status as one of the rising stars in the cruiserweight division.

Abubakar faces a tough challenge from his German counterpart, who has a record of seven wins and one knockout.

He will also be wary of falling victim to the fabled home advantage, which affects boxers when fighting an opposition in his home country.

The fight is expected to draw significant attention from boxing fans worldwide, as two promising talents in the cruiserweight division clash in what promises to be an action-packed showdown.

As Abubakar prepares to step into the ring in Germany, he carries with him the hopes and aspirations of West African boxing enthusiasts eager to watch their champion showcase his skills on the international stage. He is ranked 153 in the world, 47 places above 200-ranked Bege.
